What Happens When a Production Run Doesn’t Pass QC?

A failed QC checkpoint isn’t the end of an order — here’s how a credible manufacturer typically handles and communicates it.

Rework vs. Rejection

Depending on the defect type and rate, a failed batch may be reworked (if the issue is fixable, like a loose fastener) or rejected outright (if the defect is structural) — a manufacturer should be transparent about which applies and why.

What Buyers Should Expect to Be Told

You should receive the specific defect rate, root cause and corrective action plan, not just notice that a shipment is delayed — vague communication at this stage is a warning sign about the manufacturer’s QC transparency generally.
